Plenty have gotten rich on betting on expensive companies ... with momentum investing, it is buying the leaders with momentum. That doesn't equate to being a wise move but rarely will those that get rich be buying for the long term.

I used to be a TA trader and a bit of a balance sheet junkie until I realized that doesn't really play. A chicken or the egg scenario at best. You can crawl into any ratios you want and that doesn't preclue price appreciation or forecast near term fall.

While I agree with what you are saying from a long term perspective, with GOOG by those measures and inaction because of them .... most wouldn't have profitted at all. Momentum and psychology trump all that in the short term.
