I have never met a dove hunter (and I know quite a few) that don't eat what they shoot. One dove doesn't usually make a meal...you need 2-3 to have a decent serving. :-)

"Do people really eat them all or mostly just blast them? I think one wouldn't be very stomach filling after a hard day's blasting. No, I haven't."

Of course you eat them, and they are pretty good. Only gross, fat, game ranch hunters like Cheney don't eat what they kill, but then Cheney's been know to kill 70 birds a day on his canned hunts - how could he possibly eat that much duck?.

You twist the heads off the dead doves, then you hook your thumbs under their skin and peel it off like a sock. You have to chew carefully and spit out the shotgun pellets like seeds. It's all very "manly"!
