They sought help immediately (or at least this isn't in question so far as I know, unlike say, as in Ted Kennedy's Chappaquiddick), and while the time-frame isn't exactly specified, the article says "shortly" after the incident itself, his secret service guys called the authorities. There, obligation fulfilled? I should think. As I was saying, I think you are thinking of making mountains out of molehills, perhaps less than molehills so far as is known. Kennedy's Chappaquiddick....now that was a bit of a mountain by comparison...and illustrative of a double standard should someone think it less egregious rather than far more, for some inexplicable reason.
