I'm not sure I would agree. But it would be a strike against him. Not that Cheney would be likely to run, or have any serious chances of winning an election, he is also very unlikely to be picked as a VP by anyone else. So it really comes down to Bush's death or serious long term incapacitation before Jan. 2009. Not very likely but of course its possible.

I wouldn't dump a VP over something like this. Maybe if it could be proved that he was very drunk and than filed a false police report about it (after waiting to sober up before talking to police), but I don't think it happened that way and even if it did I don't think it could be proved.

Still it was poorly handled. I have defended Cheney against some of the most negative statements about the situation, but that doesn't mean I don't think it is a negative.
