To be fair, Jews were considered second-class citizens in Arab countries for much of that time, and endured much abuse. Pretty much par for the course not just in Arab countries, but in much of Europe, as well. Many Christians have made nice with the Jewish community, but not that many Muslims have. Now, it may be the Israeli government's fault, but you can understand why much of the Jewish world is wary of the Muslim/Arab world, at best. It does NOT, however, justify the way the Israeli government has treated the Palestinians. >The best solution is for all religions and ethnicities to share the land equally in a democratic system - that's the American value's answer to the problem. Right, but that's extremely idealistic. I'm not a fan of the existence of a Jewish state, but there are something like 60 Muslim states, and dozens are ruled by Islamic law. Why not one Jewish state, especially when people there are free to practice whatever religions they wish? I'd rather just see a solution where the two parties were physically separated from each other for a while, say two generations. -Z
