Agreed - I would differentiate between people who have a need to look for particular conclusions versus those looking across a broad range of evidence and options for some real answers and insight. I have no use for the former - they are tedious and boring. Their political champions never build lasting coalitions. You would think that looking at the pattern (partisan extremism undermines electability in the long run) would sink in, but the emotional need to rah-rah their team at the expense of others rules all.
