have you seen one? Your point about paranoia is unfounded. I came from Russia and I know that Russians did not and do not want a nuclear war. From what I recall about events during Cuban crisis Russia lost contact with 2 nuclear subs that were heading toward US East Coast - real world "crimson tide". The orders to attack were to threaten US and not actually attack it but once communication was lost...... While threating each other neither side was ready for nuclear war but those 2 russian subs scared Russians more than any of JFK's threats.

US, OTOH, managed to loose and not recover a thermonuclear device somewhere in the waters next to East Coast. It still lying there under water.

The point is that things do happened and less stable environment the more things can go wrong.....
