RCG, re: "In accidents Ed, it is often completely the fault of the injured person or as a result of their contributions to the situation. In this situation there is an injured person who is the suffering a gun shot wound and his friend who is probably suffering from deep loss and regret for having fired the shot. I have not read one credible account that says it was anything but a very unfortunate ACCIDENT Ed. But you feel free to feed on their suffering all you want. You obviously believe you should get something from Chenney on top of the suffering and loss he is already experiencing."

Cheney got on Fox TV and took responsibility. He refuted the statements that laid all the blame on the victim, Whittington, and admitted that he had an obligation to shoot in a safe direction, no matter what Whittington had done.

As the Vice President of the US he owed me that and I got it. I wish he'd done it earlier but I salute him for finally doing it. Ed
