"As Newt Gingrich declared on Fox News in late January, the matter is so urgent that the attack must happen within the next few months. “According to Gingrich, Iran not only cannot be trusted with nuclear technology, but also Iranians ‘cannot be trusted with their oil’” (Roberts).

What does that have to do with pricing unit?
I never denied one of the reason we are in this region is oil.

The fact remains that planning for the war in Iraq too place in 1998. There was no oil bourse then or any talk of it. For that matter, in 1999 oil was something like $10. Even when we did invade Iraq oil was $25 or so. So the idea that we invaded Iraq (a war planned since 1998 by the project for a new century) over a bourse is just plain fantasy.

As for now...
1% of US trade is with the mideast in oil.
While oil is vital, we sure as F are NOT going to war over the pricing unit of 1% of our trade.

we import more oil from Mexico and Canada than from the ME

We get 30MB from venezuela and they keep no US$ assets.
This pricing unit stuff is just plain silly.
