Well apparently you didn't read the post. The point is, there is no organized middle, therefore a discussion on an organized moderate position is truly hypothetical.
I had made the assumption that yours was not a rhetorical question, therefore I gave a detailed answer to my thought on the position.
I have to think by your last well thought out response that you have chosen a side, which is the point of my previous notion that choosing a "side" does not truly address the issues. If that side is "Republican," I will say that the current administration had bastardized the true Republican ideals...on this topic I could go on and on...
If your side is "Democrat," I would also say that they have lost the pulse of mainstream American, and have fallen to a state of utter confusion and indivuals that act on their own personal interests rather than a true party ideal. Again, these are generalizations, but the point is clear.
BTW: I think Cheney AND Kennedy are buffoons. Enough said on that.

As to your comment:
In other words you are just blowing smoke rings. OK, thanks anyway.

I simply say that almost every post (some notable exceptions) on this thread have been mostly smoke blowing. It is pointless for me to write a dissertation of my opinion and reasoning if the responses or rebuttals are so full of reasoning and conjecture. Sorry, I prefer actual discourse to rhetoric.
