AP Micron Files Suit vs. Rambus Under RICO Tuesday February 21, 3:32 pm ET Micron Technology Files Lawsuit Against Rambus Under Anti-Racketeering Law biz.yahoo.com BOISE, Idaho (AP) -- Chip maker Micron Technology Inc. said on Tuesday it filed a lawsuit against Rambus Inc. alleging the company violated sections of the federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. ADVERTISEMENT Micron's complaint alleges that Rambus destroyed evidence and provided false testimony to extract licensing fees or damages from Micron Technology. The case was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. Rambus, a developer of chip has been embroiled in a series of patent infringement and price fixing suits involving Samsung, Hynix Semiconductor Inc. and Micron Technology. The complaint filed by Micron relates to a case between Rambus and Samsung, and an earlier case between Rambus and Infineon Technologies AG. "Given Micron's past conduct, including apparently admitted criminal price fixing, today's action comes as no surprise. We look forward to the prompt adjudication of our patent and antitrust claims against Micron that have been pending for some time," John Danforth, Rambus' general counsel said. In December, Samsung pleaded guilty to a charge it conspired with a number of companies to fix the prices of chips used in personal computers and other consumer electronics, and agreed to pay a $300 million fine. Shares of Rambus, which have traded between $10.22 and $36.15 over the last year, were down $1.34, or 4.5 percent, at $28.34 in afternoon trading on the Nasdaq, while shares of Micron were down 59 cents, or 3.5 percent, at $16.06 on the New York Stock Exchange.
