AMAT: ya just gotta love markets and emotion! After all the blather about the great earnings and the coming gap up. Take your pick of the headlines:

finance.yahoo.com

biz.yahoo.com

08:01 am : S&P futures vs fair value: -0.1. Nasdaq futures vs fair value: +5.0. Futures versus fair value suggest the indices may open in split fashion. Strong earnings reports from Hewlett-Packard (HPQ), Applied Materials (AMAT) and Network Appliance (NTAP) bode well for Technology, hence the positive bias seen on the Nasdaq in pre-market action. The S&P, though, amid a 1.0% rebound in oil prices, may be waiting for today's economic reports to set a more definitive tone to trading since monetary policy actions will be increasingly dependent on the data. Jan housing starts, building permits and weekly jobless claims will be out at 8:30 ET.

And then the stock action:

How can anyone still think rational FA is anywhere near as important as TA and psychology?

While the chart's obviously still bullish, I suspect that the advance off the 02' low is corrective and appears to be in 3 or 5 of C now. However, a break above $60 would suggest a move to the $70 area.
