Thanks zonkie....nothing in your post I can argue with. The ten foot range hitting the general neck area would most likely have been fatal. My shotgun shooting experience has mostly been with 12 and 20 gauges and to a minor extent with a 410. I never had an interest in guns chambered in any thing with ammunition not easily and cheaply available. I'm not sure I have ever even seen a box of 28 gauge shells.

Much of the media coverage on this incident reveals a high degree of ignorance on the subject and brings into question how reliable they are across the board.

I plan on doing a little test shooting at various ranges today.
