One of the glaring faults in Bush's second term was his declaration that a 51% win at the ballot box constituted a huge victory and mandate - clearly it didn't. Poll after poll shows he is a minority president disliked by 2/3-3/4 of moderates and independents today.

So criticizing him is very much a mainstream position. Outside the habitually loyal Republican camp, the percentage of Americans who feel won over by Bush is tiny.

Contrast that with his sweeping grabs of executive power and it's a volatile combination.

FWIW, I reviewed the total list of bans on the thread and found a couple more Bush bashers than cheerleaders, if my memory of each name is correct.
