Fortunately, the neurosurgeon we have is one of the best. He's telling us to go a more conservative route first.

I agree with you on surgery. I've had only minor ones, but surgeries always have a price. I can't believe all the cosmetic surgery that gets done to soothe people's egos.

My mother, who lived in Florida at the time, had back surgery that allowed her pain-free ambulation for the last 10 years of her life. She was an entirely different person for that period of time (late 1980's to 1996). She met the surgeon at the hospital she worked at part time and he sort of took her under his wing. She used to say "If I was 30 years younger, I would kidnap him and be his slave."
