That's really weird.

The refresh rate only effects how often the monitor is refreshed. 75hz or 75 times a second should be plenty for most applications in terms of speed. I can't think of any way changing the monitory refresh rate from 75 times a second to 200 times a second would make something that take 5 to 10 seconds to pop up, do so instantly. If your waiting 5 or 10 seconds its probably a wait on the disk or a wait for something to be processed. If it was really waiting on a monitor refresh the wait would be a tiny fraction of a second even at less than 75hz.

OTOH if it works for you...
