One last kick - an administration with a goal to spread freedom and democracy around the world (second inaugural speech) has instead picked up a lot of blame for human rights offenses. Thus the end result record for Bush's own stated aims is very mixed, and advancing his cause is hampered by the reduced credibility he wields in that department. It also hurts the war against terror since we are trying to encourage Islamic societies to like us instead of hate us and not want to blow us up in revenge for our perceived actions or policies.
