"So are your Parents Canadian as in culture or do they maintain the culture of their homeland? do they live in an area where their culture is separated from other cultures or do they do the Canadian thing and assimilate? Do you live in a one cultural area or do you mix with other Canadians"

Canada is not a melting pot. What exactly is Canada's culture?

We live with in everyone's culture! You said that this does not work?
Seems to work fine in Canada. Thats what makes Canada great!

""Kind of racist thinking back then don't you think?"....""

Back then it was! Same thoughts were expressed then, 'Canada will never survive with all these ethnics coming from abroad.
Taking our jobs and so on.....'

Your Culture (whatever that maybe) is doing just fine!

lorne, you make a valid point. My family as posted many times is three wave of immigrants. My wife's is one. In common they all frankly resent those who now come expecting handouts and have no desire to assimilate, keeping their traditions private or simply a community affair....

lorne I reread your post. I agree even more fervently. I think Quebec has become (ironicaly) one of the last bastions of Canadian culture
