The WSJ reports that Carl Icahn has given up plans to take control of TWX amid signs that there could be a settlement with the co. The campaign culminated earlier this month with the release of a lengthy report by Lazard, Mr. Icahn's investment bank, calling for the co to be broken up. But in recent days, amid signs that the effort to take control of the board was losing steam, Mr. Icahn has softened his position.
