Asking a legitimate question is not an uncivil act. And keep in mind, your question was not necessarily very civil either given the subject matter of this thread. You may firmly believe the Bush Admin only acts in its own self interest, but that feeling can be debunked rather easily with credible, independently verifiable evidence.

<< "As to my question about the competence of this administration...how can that be off topic?" >>

This thread is about debunking reality defying POV's.

Your question was, "What is this administration competent at, other than looking after its own interests?"

How did that debunk a reality defying POV?

This thread also allows folks to discuss issues raised here. You didn't do that either. You brought your own question here that you asked elsewhere.

And as I already explained, I was unaware that you had been asked to bring the discussion here by a thread regular. Once that was brought to my attention, the dynamics immediately changed as you already know.

RE: Cheney - "would it not be safe to say he is an incompetant (sic) hunter"

It was an unfortunate accident. There were several mitigating factors involved, but Cheney did not use them to excuse or downplay his actions. Instead, he took full responsibility. Cheney was remorseful, contrite & showed genuine concern for his friend.

Considering that Cheney has no history of any issues when hunting that would call his competence into question; I don't see how anyone could make a compelling case that would show that Cheney is genuinely an "incompetent hunter".

incompetent

1 : not legally qualified
2 : inadequate to or unsuitable for a particular purpose
3 a : lacking the qualities needed for effective action b : unable to function properly
