Difficult to disagree with him.

I can't. I'd vote for that platform.

Economically: an end to subsidies to large corporate concerns. No more money for corporate agriculture, which compromises competition and goes to those hardly in need. Some sort of taxation that is either flat or nearly so, and eliminates evasion through phony write-offs. A balanced budget and an end to borrowing for programs we cannot afford, both subsidies for left-wing failed programs and right-wing conglomerates. Some sort of energy policy that weans us off imported petroleum by a balance between conservation, energy exploration, nuclear power, methanol and ethanol, and coal.

2. Domestically: protection of the border and an end to illegal immigration, both to promote the melting pot and to end the undermining of lower-end wages for Americans by the massive influx of illegal alien labor. Less advocacy for radical abortion, homosexual marriage, radical environmentalism and a host of cultural issues that special interests insist upon, but are not embraced by the majority of Americans. No more ethnic separatism but a return to the melting pot and an end to identity politics. More attention to the Midwest and less to Hollywood and the upper-West Side, since populism as advanced by boutique millionaires is a hard sell.

These two are right in my line of thinking. I would stop there and add that something has to be done about the income tax and the loophole... that only are really available to those who can afford good tax lawyers. Maybe I am feeling this way having just returned from the accountant and seeing how much tax I owe.. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I think I could support that platform. Of course it doesn't cover every area, people could support that platform and have very different ideas about many issues, but than its supposed to be a “conservative Democrat” platform so I would imagine it might only include areas where it might be possible to find agreements between moderate Democrats and relatively nonpartisan conservatives.

Some questions or issues -

an end to illegal immigration

I don't think that's possible. I also don't think that the steps that it would take to cut such immigration by say 99% would be desirable. But I might support steps to get more control over the border that are less extreme.

More attention to the Midwest and less to Hollywood and the upper-West Side

I'm not really sure what this means. More media attention? that really isn't for politicians to decide. More of some other form of attention?
