I've never even met my godfather. He was just a guy my parents knew 50 years ago. In the beginning, McCarthy was a democrat, and not at all rightwing. So maybe he was a friend of Joe Kennedy way back then when RFK's sister was born. McCarthy soon switched parties and changed into something extreme, evil and un-American. That's when patriots like the Kennedys who believe in democracy and civil liberties turned against him. The Kennedys were enemies of McCarthy and his partners once McCarthy turned into the monster he became. This directly relates to the murder of the Kennedys. The far rightwing friends of Hoover did it. The Bushes also used to be moderates who were pro-choice. Cheney used to be more moderate. Hillary was raised a GOP Eisenhower girl. People sometimes change, 180 degrees sometimes.
