OK, the attacks on Kerry were over done and that was a distraction for most independents, as was the amount of attention given to Bush's teen age years.

I think you have missed the point. I am trying to help you understand why the perception of people who are not yet in the system are leaning toward anti-liberal. They certainly don't care if Bush drank a lot as a young adult and they can't relate very much to Kerry's VietNam Vet, and post Vet experiences.

We can compare notes all day long on how happy fatty is that he is not skinny, and vica versa.

Young people are trying to form their political identity. They are seeing one party in control, accomplishing their goals and expanding their influence. This is very attractive to people who hope to see themselves as individuals who will be growing, becoming more powerful, and expanding their influence. What they see from the left wing is the opposite. The examples I gave you are very real. Children don't sit down and analyse the way they can relate to these events as you did. ... "what about how Kerry, Clinton, etc were treated, or how about the way Nixon behaved"

You, as a an articulate eloquent spokesperson, could be helping to turn the image of your party around. Getting defensive when constructive criticism is offered isn't helpful to any one. There are good ways to attract children to liberal views. They aren't seeing it.
