If you have DirecTV, CNBC-Europe is on channel 357 starting at midnight EST for Squawkbox Europe. Most of the presenters are Brits with an easygoing style.

NPR and BBC International radio will never be counted as conservative but they often come up with interesting features on topics that the more commercial press will not bother to cover because they are too "boring" for the typical listener. The other night NPR had an extended chat with a US reporter who has covered Israel for six years, and asked about his impressions of what had changed in that time. You just don't get that depth on the Nightly News-format shows.

Though I found I couldn't bear WETA in Washington the last time I lived there - most of their cultural feature programs were like Niles and Frasier Crane fussing on a bad hair day.
