Well there is an upside to owning the house you live in, you can't blame anyone but yourself for bonehead decisions regarding repairs and you are much more apt to do a good job since you will have to live with it. But then again married couples are pretty good at pointing the finger at each other when things go bad.

The downside to owning is that when there is water coming through the lighting fixture on the ceiling you don't have anyone to call up and scream at besides yourself. There has been more than one occasion where I wished I had a landlord to come fix something when it broke.

How did the cork floor look? We just put one in, partly on the research that they last decades (often over a century), and partly on getting a beautiful factory closeout for pennies on the dollar.
