Now we are back to sheltering our kids from everything - since real life is devoid of sex, violence, conflict, upsetting scenes, jarring events and physical risks, we should do all we can to make sure our kids are wondrously oblivious to it all....until they cross an arbitrary age threshold and we expect them to deal with it all as mature adults. Inexperienced adults, of course. We are producing what are probably history's oldest adolescents. And everybody knows the downsides to adolescent behavior.
