"Japan launched Pearl Harbor when the US cut them off from oil."

There was more to it than that. But, ok. Iran cuts off oil supply, and the US launches an attack on Iran to take over the oil fields and get the oil flowing again. Now let us assume that this one is planned better, and we follow the attack with sufficient support to rebuild infrastructure, keep security and get the production that was forced offline during the attack back online. That is easily 2 to 3 times the troops we committed to Iraq, without drawing significant numbers of troops out of Iraq. And the military is already regarded as being stretched being limits.

Iran produces about 5% of the oil in the world. That production would be offline for at least a few months, probably more. Oil prices would go over $100 at the mere threat of this, probably more. It is very likely that the rest of the Arab countries would at least cut back in protest, two Muslim countries under occupation is probably the limit. So what would we do, invade them also? With what army?

Bush is responsible for the Islamic extremists in power in Iran now. After 9-11, Iran was actually on our side and helping us. They helped us in Afghanistan, but again add Iran's new government to the ever-growing costs of Bush's blunder in Iraq.

Ah wait though, Bushies would love to make war in Iran. Oil prices would zoom up. Halliburton would make billions more and Bush could call a State of Seige and martial law and cancel the November elections. The Bushie dream - a dictatorship and no more US democracy or pesky Constitution.
