.National security is Americans' most important concern While correct, that's a bit misleading. In survey after survey, while it is named as the top priority more than any other, it's picked as the top priority by about a fifth or so of those surveyed. That's not as compelling a priority as it first sounds.

t's about men, i.e., character, and policies, and the Dems have simply not successfully compete on that plane. Character? Nixon, DeLay, Cunningham, Cheney, Libby, Rove, et al... Policies? Watergate, Iran-Contra, torture, rendition, suspension of habeus corpus, borrow and spend, deficits, black box voting, Plame and NSA scandals, etc You will not find me defending the Dems for their lack of cohesion and message, but no, sorry, this is about marketing.

I am not talking about bad marketing by Dems. I am mainly talking about by the slow response of the populace to recognize bad and hurtful policy by those that "sold them a bill of goods".. I know "marketing" is important to repubs, but NOT to me.. Lot's of crap is sold very effectively. That's why there is 'truth in advertising' laws.. Should be in politics too.. Good marketing selling BAD policy in politics is NOTHING to be proud of.. So I imagine you like JL is because he is a repub in the dem party. I also imagine you like Zell Miller too.. Labels mean NOTHING to me.. The only reason I am a registered dem is that there are more decent politicians on that side of the aisle. I wish there were more though with some courage.. Also I wish there more repubs with courage. I imagine Olympia Snow, Chuck Hagel and Susan Collins, for starters, spend a lot of sleepless nights thinking about the direction their party is going.. All they need is some courage.. Maybe some night, the "cowardly lion" will whisper in their ear and tell them how it's done.. Get courage, I mean, before it's too late... John Dean got it so I know it can be done....
