You wouldn't know it if you lived at Jane & Finch or in Scarborough. Actually, crimes related to fraud have skyrocketed in Canada in recent years. Also, any declines in crime that have occured have had a great deal to do with the change of age demographics in Canada. Young people commit a lot more crimes than older people, largely as a function of their hormones and lack of maturity. When the baby boomers grew up, they commited less crimes and typical "crimes of youth" went down.
