Dependency on coal and oil is very old-fashioned. That's the real stone age. Think progressive here, not backwards. The main thing that's been holding us back are the lobbyists who want to preserve the status quo. Once they're out of the way there are few limits. Just a matter of not just talking about it, like Bush sometimes does, but actually doing something about it.

Bush's 7 billion in new corporate welfare to the ultra-rich oil companies is obscene. That money and windfall profits taxes against the energy gougers should be ploughed back into a massive clean fuels program. Wonderful changes would result.

The U.S. could be off of Arab oil in 10 years if the willpower existed to make it happen.
