Not really. The US is far from isolated. What does happen is that you get held to a different standard. Germany is experiencing that in Europe. When you are the dominant country in an area, the other countries tend to have high expectations.

Ted, so when it comes to trashing America or the Bush adminstration, it's all about absolute standards, but when it comes to defending Clinton or Palestinians, it's all about relativism.

First, I don't have a general rule that applies to all topics. Do you?

Secondly, I don't know the condition of Brazilian prisons, but let's assume they're bad......I don't go after things I can't change. I could write a letter to the Brazilian president and raise hell but its not likely he's going to listen to me because I am not a constituent of his. Does that make sense to you?

As far as Clinton or the Palestinians go, I have never defended either when they don't deserve to be defended.

Wanna know what I think? I think the U.N. should start holding everyone to a high standard, and not just America. Of course, most of these nations in the U.N. pretty much say, "I'll ignore your sins if you ignore mine and we both agree on pointing out America's."

Why does it matter what the UN thinks? Don't you have your own standards to maintain?

But I guess that's the price of being the sole superpower. You can be isolated rather easily if you don't be careful.

And that's because we're acting like a third world power. Do the people at Intel expect you to act like an engineer, or like a custodian? If its an engineer, do you think that's unfair?
