I think you mean penalties.

Frankly, I'm pretty impressed that four local citizens have been convicted in a case against a non-citizen. I don't know the details of the case, but it sounds like justice has been served.

You can argue the penalty should be stronger (I have no idea what the penalty is for rape elsewhere, not really my field of knowledge!), but the law appears to have worked well if the four were guilty.

Nothing wrong with the laws in Italy, Amy.
The only problem there is that nobody bothers about the laws. Except for the smoking ban in bars and restaurants, that is. Quite amazing the latter, actually.
