Having worked for both Analog Devices and a number of their competitors, I will say that Jerry Fishman did a very good job of building the company far beyond what Ray Stata (one of ADIs founders) could do. Without Jerry, ADI might be a 700 - 900 million dollar company, instead of > 2 Billion in sales and with 2.4 Billion in cash. Consider also that ADI has their headquarters in Massachutes, not Silicon Valley, and had an engineering culture notable for its lack of business sense. I figure he is worth at least 50 million of the defered compensation....
