Ted, There is no definitive proof that trickle down economics works.

Better than a planned economy where the state is in charge.

Are you serious? You think there are only two choices?

Lowered the Fed rate and moderately increased gov't spending. I think that's all it would have taken.

Can you elaborate on the second point, and why you think the first one isn't sufficient? Seems like the lowering of the fed rate moved the bubble from one area to the next, and the economy continues to be pumped with "funny money

The lowering of the fed rate typically results in cheaper money circulating in the economy. Cheaper is supposed to encourage industry to expand...invest in research etc. For some reason.....and I have mentioned this to you before........it did not work that way this time. Instead, people took advantage of the low rates and bought new houses, upgraded houses or did a refi. It was good thing because had they not the recession would have been much worse.

As for the gov't spending, I am talking very little increased spending.........but rather fast tracking projects that have already been approved so that they go into development quickly........could be construction projects or the buying of buses or rail cars. Expenditures that result in an immediate stimulus either to manufacturing or construction.
