That story is one of a long series of personal experiences where I came close to getting completely wiped out but came through without a scratch. I'm pretty convinced that God is saving me for something really important. I may be finding out what it is right now.

Static electricity can cause fires during fillups. What can happen is that people start filling up their car and get back in the vehicle and then get out to remove the pump after it clicks off. The carpet and seats can transfer a static charge to your body and you should ground yourself with the vehicle before touching the gas nozzle to avoid sparks.
