Illegal Mexican immigrants? I have no way of knowing, but people tell me they are harder working than US citizens. So we should open our southern border and let in as many workers as want to come, in the name of lowering cost of good sold?

You're the one discussing illegal imigration, I'm discussing the value of labor. The issue raised was Delphi's CEO wanting to pay $10 an hour without benefits instead of the former $25 per hour with no benefits. I said a gazillion workers around the planet would love $10 per hour without benefits, so you're going to have a hard time resisting the CEO. You are the one going off on immigration issues, which is related but quite different. I haven't said anything about letting in illegal Mexican workers at all, as far as I recall. Please, try to stay on topic, or at least bring up your own views if you want a new topic (don't tell me what my views are on your new topic).

re: Being patriotic means wanting Americans to earn more because they deserve it, not simply because they are Americans. We are capitalists and believe in equality of man - put those two together and your obligation as a patriot is to keep your population ahead of the productivity curve so that they can continue to get more for their labor.

That doesn't work for "unskilled" labor. It's a commodity... the more supply vs. demand the lower the price (compensation). I suppose we could start arranging charters from the Congo... probably real cheap labor. A modern day version of the slave ships.

Well, my point is American unskilled labor will get paid less and kess throughout our lives. As for charter flights from the Congo, good luck with your new venture. Or are you saying that's my new venture??

Charter flights from the Congo! A new slave ship! Betcha lots of people in the Congo would love to come to the US to work for $5 per day.....don't think many slaves were looking forward to there voyage. Whatever.
