1. Where I go, you DON'T want a rattle trap. You need good 4WD.

2. I doubt it matters. Mexican cops are paid very poorly. To make up for that, they shake people down. Gringos of any sort are particularly god targets. Our poor are rich by their standard (at least in much of the country).
