Women can not have a baby without an ultra sound anymore. Their bodies won't work or something. It's really absurd.

My youngest was the first to be making me Grandpa and after about ultra sound 6 or 7 I finally asked just what in the hell is going on. Youngest is scared out of her mind because they keep doing ultra sounds because they aren't seeing the baby practice breathing. Practice Breathing! I went with her to her next appt and asked the Dr WTF this practice breathing nonsense is. And he explained to me that baby's practice breathe and they weren't seeing Michael do that. I said I think your full of shit but lets continue on, just what are we going to do about the fact that he is not practice breathing and he said there is nothing they can do. I said OK since there is nothing you can do to make him practice breath why in the hell are scaring my daughter half to death and doing weekly ultra sounds that will probably scramble the brain of my grandson all to try and catch him practice breathing when there isn't a damn thing you can do about it anyhow. He couldn't answer that. I said well my friend since I'm footing the bill here you've done your last ultra sound. It's truly absurd.

I suspect it may be driven by the malpractice suits for anything less then a perfect baby.

I think they are paranoid over malpractice suits - in OB/GYN, everyone will blame a less-than-perfect baby on the doctor.
