That overly simplifies things... just as turning the operations of the Panama Canal over to a port operator that is majority owned by the Chinese Government, turning the operations of these US ports over to a company OWNED by a Persian Gulf 'shiekdom' could reasonably be presumed to have impacts upon the security of the facilities... at bare minimum, both cases give the FOREIGN COUNTRIES in question powers & knowledge they might not otherwise have had....
