"So you think Al Gore invented the Internet?" No. But I do believe he promoted legislation that was instrumental in making the Internet what it is today. Ask Metcalf if you don't believe me. And he was about the only one who was pushing it in the days when the only way to get access was to work for a company or be enrolled in a university who participated as a backbone site. I tried to wrangle my way back on the Internet for years during the late 1980s and early 1990s, it was impossible. Gore never claimed to have invented the Internet.
