i think nations, as in large aggregation of folks in some civilization schema or pop culture convolution, are momentum plays, once on course, will stay on course for a while, and once off course, will stay off course for a bit

i also think 'return to the mean' is a valid conceptual framework with much merit, and there are super cycles, cycles, and sub-cycles, all fractal images of each other, driven by returning and overshooting the mean, kept on/off course by momentum

so, in other words, doesn't matter whether the world cooperates or not, what must inevitably be will surely happen

it is my theory, i am sticking to it, until proven wrong :0)
