Why would Dale be interested in having folks on his thread who whine about him, and insult him elsewhere? I don't understand why such people do that in the first place- I mean grow up and get over it, but for you to expect them back here after they do it? Seems kind of illogical to me. But whatever.

Part of this is about respect- how can you respect someone who runs around behind your back whining and crying about a ban, and talking crap? And if you can 't respect someone at all, it's very difficult to talk to them, or moderate them. They become (imo) a zero. I couldn't respect someone like that. I say on my threads I won't have people on them who are talking about me elsewhere. It's unpleasant and creepy and two faced- really, when it comes right down to it. It's like the little girls in middle school who want to play with you, but also want to talk shit about you with their friends when it suits them. Who wants to be around such people? I'm not sure why it's so hard to understand, but apparently some people just don't get it. They will forever be lonely- until they learn that kind of behavior doesn't fly with many grownups, OR, they'll just have to get used to hanging around the small group of people it does fly with.

What about Chinu's posts on other threads? He bangs the partisan drum, but he's a lefty, so he gets a pass.

So, if you ran this thread, you would ban anyone who "banged the partisan drum" on any thread? As I read Dale's intent, it's not that. But, rather, it is to keep a civil thread here with folk of all political stripe contributing.

He's doing a fine job, too, by the way. I wouldn't ban exactly the folk he's banning, but then I wouldn't keep on the thread precisely the folk he keeps. But it's the overall effect. Which, as I said, is very good.

Moderating SI threads with the intent of keeping civility is hard work. Ask anyone who's taken a shot at it.

If you don't like it, there are any number of places to post on SI. As I read your posts, you would be most comfortable on may friend LindyBill's PfP thread. Why not hang out there? Bill could teach you a dance or two; take you to Coconut Willie's; whatever.

Well I am Chinu. I have been called a Muslim, which I am not. I am not offended for being called a Muslim, nor am I proud to be called so. I am just amused at people hurling labels.

I have been called a lefty, which I am not. You have read my posts here to form your conclusions. If I were a lefty than I would not acknowledge Karl Rove's political brilliance.

It is a known fact on SI that I am a naturalized US citizen. I am a citizen by choice and extremely proud to be one. I have sacrificed a lot to get that citizenship. And I am not about ready to flush all that down the drain through a hate-based criticism of the Govt. My criticism is aimed to making this country look the best to other world nations just like I saw it before coming here.

It is Dale's prerogative to moderate this thread as the host. Let us get back to discussing issues. So far I am very impressed with the quality of posts on this thread. It is very informative and most important of all "we respect one another on this thread without stereotyping anyone."

Thanks for reading.
