The more i think about this the more i think that bush will use the racism argument here to deflect criticism. Even if he is defeated in congress, he still holds the moral high ground. He will ally himself with american moslem groups who are outraged by the knee jerk response by pols on both left and right, including some of their best democratic friends. I still think that the intitial decision was dumb from a politics pov but it is what it is.
