I once saw a deal rejected by the WH because the holding company of the foreign buyer had an officer who was in the German army in the forties. It doesn't take much to knock the typical deal down.

Dubai is not an enemy. They are probably the most liberal of Arab states and a friend to the US.

I've been to Dubai and Jebel Ali back in 1998. While there were protests and terrorist actions happening in other countries there wasn't even a hint of any problems there. Liberty wasn't restricted in anyway save the norm. Matter of fact, the majority of people that I met there were more likely to be from the Pacific rim or India than any Arab/Persian country.

When you come down to brass tacks the security issue really doesn't hold water. Our ports and boarders are so porous that if some organization wanted to do the unthinkable they wouldn't need to be a port authority to do it.
