I think they just missed this and it was decided at lower levels of govt. The congressional republicans do what they need to do for votes in 06 and Bush positions himself as the liberal (small l) in this fight against folks on both left and right who are taking an anti-arab stance. I think if he (bush) had his druthers, this like the cheney shooting, wouldnt have happened at all.

I think so too, JDN. Stepping back, looking at the world situation right now, and the ME in particular, I think there is something else going on...particularly with Dubai. It is also interesting to see just how many leftwingers are now stepping up to the plate, and admitting there just "might be" terrorism coming from the ME... Should we be paying attention to the people who are loading the docks where the merchandise (or whatever) is coming from as well as what is in the containers when they are unloaded? Who are the people that are hired as longshoremen/women, and who is doing the hiring?
