Tight supply of Intel-platform chipsets helps SiS post net profits of NT$955 million in 2005
(Don't follow intel closely but there seems to be product delays, certain oversupply coupled with shortages in other area.)

To my surprise I recall reading that AMD took the #1 place from Intel with regards to NOR flash.

Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) posted after-tax profits of NT$955 million (almost US$30 million) in 2005, a strong comeback from the losses of nearly NT$2 billion it recorded in 2004, according to a February 17 company filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchange posted following a board of directors meeting. The tight supply of Intel-platform chipsets is generally credited with helping the positive result.

The company expects chipset shipments to grow 20% this year and market sources predict that revenues should continue to grow robustly on the company’s decision to produce chips supporting AMD's Live! platform and its role as the sole supplier of southbridge chips for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 game consoles, despite a sequential decline of 28% in its revenues for January.

The profits translates into a net EPS (earnings per share) of NT$0.72 for 2005, compared with a loss of NT$1.50 posted in 2004, the company said.

With its improved performance, the board decided to hand out a dividend of NT$0.55 per share for 2005, with NT$0.44 in stock and NT$0.11 in cash, according to the filing. This is the first time the company has issued a cash dividend.

Additionally, the board also decided to distribute a total of NT$22.99 million in bonuses, including NT$16.42 million in cash and NT$6.57 million in shares, to its employees for 2005. The planned dividend and bonuses are subject to approval by the company’s shareholder meeting slated to be held on June 12, the company noted.
