This is not like the internment of the Japanese. It is exactly the same. It is about letting our emotions getting the best of us. I am sure that during WWII there were some very good people who thought that if you had Japanese physical characteristics, you couldn't possibly be a good American and that we would be safer if they were interned. Why risk our security? In that environment, it would be almost impossible to raise all the mitigating arguements that you brought up.
