Japan gets no benefit from the yen carry trade, so don't consider that a factor

I think Japan does beneft from the carry trade in that it weakens the yen without the Bank of Japan being forced to intervene in the currency markets.

The last thing Japan wants is a stronger yen.

With the many false starts Japan has gone through in the past, I don't see them raising rates until they are forced to do so.
