My wife had abdominal pains, and her doctor was unsure of what it was. Another doctor came in to consult. Tapped his finger on the spot. "Appendicitis." was all he said.

They took it out, so inflamed it was hours away from bursting.

There are just as many levels of skill among medical people as there is any other profession, I suppose.

You are right. Blind faith is never called for.

My wife had two episodes of pain in the gall bladder area, had me hauling her to the ER at 2am. Lots of tests and nothing but she did get pain relievers both times. This stuff was getting old so she asked her chiropractor. She sold us a bottle of Beta Food, not the stuff that you feed fish, a beet extract. Not a problem in 3 years.

You can have an inflamed appendix without it progressing to acute appendicitis.

I had inflamed appendix twice before I finally got acute appendicitis and needed appendectomy. Felt like appendicitis but low white blood cell count.

But acute appendicitis hurt much worse.
