Mindmeld, So when Hamas came to power, he had an opportunity to extend an olive branch and say that we would work with Hamas to unify the security infrastructure of the Palestinians under one authority in preparation for the creation of a Palestinian army and state.

What the heck are you talking about? Hamas is still calling for the elimination of Israel. Why should Bush or any other ally of Israel help arm Hamas?

One thing I like about Bush's vision is that he has openly acknowledged that we should no longer prop up dictators and has called for a policy shift to push Democracy.

Ha! Then why hasn't little Kuwait, with ~1.5 million people and ~8% of the world's oil reserves, been coerced into becoming democratic? Or Saudi Arabia? Or Qatar?

The unelected ruler is a "king" if we like him, a "dictator" if we don't? We have our good friend King Abdullah in Jordan, the son of the former King of Jordan, and we have our enemy the dictator Bashir in Syria, the son of the former dictator.

When has Bush ever called for democratic elections in Jordan, our ally in the so called "War on Terror"?
